Latest Questions about Kayaking - Cathedral Cove Kayak Tours (Coromandel)

Hi There
I am looking at doing a full-day trip with your company.
Do your single kayaks have good backrests?

Comments

Thank you for your query. They are sit-in kayaks so there is some backrest and you can always pad it up to make it more comfortable. For the time being, the session time is 8.45 am

We would love to do the kayaking but have young children, 9, 4 and 2. Are there options to have the youngest 2 with us?

Comments

Thank you for your inquiry about kayaking at Cathedral Cove. Unfortunately, the minimum age for kayaking is 5 years old.

Hey All,
I am planning my trip and really would like to join this tour. However, I am a little bit lost about how to arrive at the beach.
What is the best way to reach the meeting point at the beach coming from Tauranga?

Comments

The kayaking at Cathedral Cove departs from Hahei Beach which is a 2-hour drive from Tauranga. Once you book online we will email you a booking confirmation with all the necessary details of where to meet and at what time.

Hi
My husband and I are visiting from Australia. Do you need a certain level of fitness to do this tour and also what happens if the weather is bad?

Comments

Hi there

You only need a moderate level of fitness for this tour. It is a leisurely paddle so as long as you are generally active there will be no problem. If there is bad weather the tour will be cancelled and you will be re-booked for the next available trip. However, if you are unable to make this trip then a full refund will be given.

For the Cathedral Cove kayak tour in the Coromandel, if we want to go in a single kayak on our own is this allowed or do we have to go in a double sea kayak?

Comments

Thanks for your inquiry. If you book the Cathedral Cove kayaking in the Coromandel then you normally go in a double sea kayak with the person you are travelling with or if you are on your own then you will get paired up with someone else. However, if you would prefer to paddle in a single kayak and you are an experienced kayaker then we can make arrangements for you to have a single kayak. Please note that it is up to the discretion of the guide on the day and if they feel you are not competent enough to handle a single kayak in the ocean then they will ask you to go in a double with someone else.
