Aoraki Mt Cook, nestled in the heart of the Aoraki Mt Cook National Park, stands proudly above one of New Zealand’s largest glaciers. The Tasman Experience with Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopter by INFLITE is an opportunity to soar like a bird high above this visually spectacular glacier environment, and land on the Tasman Glacier. Throughout the flight, enjoy views of the Tasman Glacier’s Terminal Lake, Mount Tasman itself, Hochestetter Icefall, the Grand Plateau and Plateau Hut.
Mt Cook is the only place in the Southern Hemisphere where you get to choose between a helicopter or a ski plane. The choice is yours and both are fantastic! After exploring the Tasman Valley on the first part of your Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters flight, land softly on the Tasman Glacier and experience the sound of silence surrounded by snow and ice as the engines are shut down.
Before departing for the second part of your flight back to Mt Cook Airport, take a moment to cast your eye towards the east and look out over the majestic Mackenzie Basin. Throughout the Tasman Experience, your Mt Cook Ski Planes & Helicopters pilot provides informative commentary and points out landmarks such as the old mountaineering trail from days gone by. This 35 minute helicopter or ski plane flight is the perfect trip for families or anyone looking to enjoy the wonder of New Zealand’s alpine environment.

- Please arrive 45 minutes prior to your flight time
- You will have 10-15 minutes landing time on the snow. This is enough time to take photos, play in the snow & enjoy the sheer beauty of the surrounding environment
- If your flight is cancelled due to bad weather you can reschedule or contact us for a full refund
- Child rates apply (0-12yrs)
- Infants (0-3yrs) must sit on their parent's lap (seatbelt extension provided)
- Children over 3 years must have their own seat
- This trip requires a minimum of 2 adults to run
- What you should bring: sunglasses, camera, closed/covered shoes, warm clothing - it's usually around 10 degrees on the glacier so wear a couple of layers
