On the Small group tour to Mt Cook from Queenstown, when you arrive in Mount Cook you spend approximately 3 to 3 1/2 hours there of free time. Prices differ for the optional extra activities and these are payable direct to the tour operator on the day. At time of writing this, the heli hike is $695 per person, the scenic ski plane flight is $599 and there are various helicopter scenic flights that start around the $300 mark.
