What you can expect
Christchurch's restaurant tram is New Zealand's only dining experience on board a 36 seater, air conditioned, colonial style dining tram. You will be treated to the finest service and New Zealand's best food and drink all whilst enjoying a fantastic tour that showcases Christchurch's heritage and vibrancy, the new and the old.
Upon boarding the restaurant tram, you will be greeted with a beverage and shown to your table where you will enjoy a delicious four course dinner. The menu boasts a variety of dishes for all tastes and dietary requirements, with locally sourced, fresh produce. You will enjoy dishes from succulent Canterbury lamb koftas to local Akaroa Salmon, all finished off with a delicious dessert and your choice of tea or coffee.
The Christchurch Tramway Restaurant is an extremely popular activity and is not to be missed so advanced booking is required!

- Operates daily all year (excluding public holidays & New Years Eve)
- How far ahead do you have to book the Christchurch tram? During the peak summer months, it is highly recommended to book the Christchurch Tramway Restaurant months in advance. Due to its very limited capacity of just 36 seats, tables for popular summer dates, especially weekends, sell out quickly.
- Is there a toilet available on board the Christchurch tram restaurant? Yes, there is a small, airplane-style restroom available on board the Christchurch Tramway Restaurant.
- If we are booking the Christchurch tram restaurant in advance do we have pay now or later? Yes, when booking the Christchurch tram restaurant, you must pay in full.
- Can you purchase alcoholic beverages during the Tramway Restaurant dinner experience? Yes, you can purchase, beer, wone and champagne on the tram restaurant.
- Dietary requirements can be catered for, please advise when booking
- Each circuit of the tram loop takes approximately 50 minutes, you will complete 3 laps of the tram line
- Not suitable for children under 10 years old, standard menu & pricing applies for all children booked on board
- Licensed bar on board the tram
- Closed on Public Holidays & New Years Eve
- Advanced bookings advised as the tramway restaurant is very popular
- Cancellation must be notified 48 hours in advance of any cancellation of 10 or fewer people, and seven days in advance for groups of more than 10 people
- If notification is not provided a 25% cancellation fee will be charged to the customer or booking agent
- Cancellations within 24 hours of departure or who does not show on the day without informing the office will be charged a 100% cancellation fee.

The Restaurant tram was a great way to spend a couple of hours and enjoy a fantastic meal at the same time. The staff were magnificent and the food was 5 star. Thank you for a wonderful time we really enjoyed it. Trish & Mike
