Hawkes Bay is the oldest wine region in New Zealand, operating since 1851 and the second largest in the country. The climate in the region is similar to that of Bordeaux in France making it the perfect atmosphere to grow juicy grapes for the process of wine making. This has led to Hawkes Bay gaining an international reputation for producing some of the country's best wine, both red and white in variety. The region is especially known for its Bordeaux blend reds and Chardonnays.
Your wine tour will leave central Napier and take you onto a journey into the wine making region where you will be able to sample various wines and gain an understanding as to why the region is so highly regarded.
Throughout your tour, you will learn the history and techniques behind the wine, sample various wines and enjoy a scenic tour of the Art Deco suburbs.
With small, intimate groups and your local guide this will be a day to remember with a highly personalised feeling.
Wine tour was absolutely fantastic. Well worth the cost and experience. Winery hosts were welcoming, informed and a delight to meet but the priest de resistance was John, our Driver and tour guide. Well done John. Absolutely magnificent.
It was a christmas present and we were delighted with the day. I recommend it.
