Central Otago is one of the best wine regions in New Zealand. Set in a stunning natural environment that captivated the pioneers of old, this verdant area now captures the imagination of winemakers. The Central Otago Wine region showcases picturesque valleys & dramatic gorges and is divided into 6 wine sub regions, of which you will visit 3 regions on your tour. Each region has its unique soil, elevations and other aspects that make Central Otago a premier wine region.
The Boutique Wine Tour is a relaxing half day from Queenstown amongst the finest boutique vineyards & breathtaking scenery of Central Otago. This small group wine tasting tour departs Queenstown daily and brings you to Gibbston and Bannockburn, the heart of the Central Otago wine region. You will visit 4 boutique vineyards located in the idyllic Gibbston Valley and the lesser-known Bannockburn and Cromwell area. The delicious wines from Central Otago, combined with breathtaking scenery and fascinating pioneering history, will make for a memorable Queenstown day out.
With wine tastings at each stop, you will also enjoy a wonderful platter style lunch at a vineyard restaurant. If time permits, the Boutique Wine Tour also includes a visit to old Cromwell Town, where you can learn about the local pioneering history. Together with a friendly and experienced Appellation Wine Tours guide, who is passionate about both wine and the region, you will learn much about wine tasting as well as this special part of the world.
Central Otago’s Pinot Noir wines are world renowned and truly top notch. You will also enjoy the plethora of premium quality white wines including the Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris wines that are extremely popular. Groups are kept small so the best vineyards can be selected for the group on the day of the tour.
