Head out from Queenstown’s Main Town Pier for 45 minutes of jet boating across Lake Wakatipu and into the Shotover and Kawarau rivers, covering 45km of tight turns and full 360 degree spins before you step ashore at Frankton.
The afternoon is the opposite in every way. A wine guide collects you for a boutique tour through three contrasting Central Otago sub regions, Gibbston, Cromwell, and Bannockburn, with tastings at four premium vineyards and a platter style lunch between stops, plus commentary on the wine, the landscapes, and the early history that shaped them. Locals will tell you to dress for everything, because the boat and the vineyards both run in whatever weather Central Otago serves up that day. You are dropped back at your hotel at the end of it.
