What you can expect

Just on the outskirts of Queenstown in the beautiful region of Gibbston Valley, is Oxbow Adventure Co very own gun club! At Oxbow Adventure Co Gun Club you can enjoy the thrill and excitement of clay target shooting - aim at clay targets as they fly across the sky! Also, you can try and shoot the 'runaway rabbit' as it glides across the ground, don't worry it's not a real one! Clay Target Shooting is suitable for all abilities from never holding a shotgun before to experienced shooters, Oxbow Adventure Co will teach you how to aim and shoot! 

Receive one-on-one guidance from one of the many experienced instructors or compete with your friends to a friendly healthy spot of competition. At Oxbow Adventure Co the friendly professional instructors will go through a thorough safety briefing and demonstration on how to handle a shotgun, you will be provided with all the safety gear, shotguns, and cartridges. 

Clay Target Shooting is a great activity to do on a wet rainy day, as you are under the roof of the custom-built stand, and is great for groups wanting to have a bit of competitive fun!

What you need to know

Inclusions
  • Safety briefing and gun demonstration 
  • Custom designed sporting field and stand 
  • 8 automatic clay bird throwers 
  • Runaway rabbit (not real) 
  • Provide shotguns and protective gear 
Duration
  • Allow 1 hour for the whole experience (including safety briefing)
Departure Location
  • Regular departures from 10am-4pm (winter) & 9am-5pm (summer)
  • Self drive to 2696 Gibbston Highway, Queenstown, NZ (30mins from Queenstown)
  • Operates daily all year
Additional Information
  • Children rate applies to 13-15 years
  • Minimum age is 13 years old 
  • Maximum of 6 shooters per session
  • The stand has safety barriers in between each shooter for safety
  • Not suitable for pregnant women
  • Cancellation fees may apply if cancelled less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time

    Great fun even fior first timers. Really good instructors who had us hitting clays after first few shots.
