Next, a flyby of the first ski field in New Zealand, Coronet Peak, delivering spectacular views to cap the basin. You will then fly over Queenstown itself, including the Skyline Gondola and along the northern edge of New Zealand’s longest lake, Lake Wakatipu.
Some of the highlights of this flight include Bob’s peak (1748m), alpine lakes such as Moke and Dispute and magnificent views of the Glenorchy and Paradise regions. Here you will be able to see views of Mt Earnslaw (2830m) and the Earnslaw Glacier before descending over New Zealand’s largest high country station, Mt Nicholas, before arriving at Walter Peak.
After time to explore Walter Peak’s farm and gardens, a delicious gourmet BBQ lunch at the Colonel's Homestead and taking in the sights and sounds of this relaxed high country environment, you will then board the famous TSS Earnslaw. This 1912 vintage steamship provides a special way to cruise back across Lake Wakatipu back to Queenstown. You will be able to explore the ship and its working engine room, or kick back on the deck and enjoy the passing scenery.
