Once you arrive, step onboard your Southern Discoveries Nature Cruise and get up close and personal to the abundant waterfalls and wildlife that Milford Sound has to offer.
Your day of adventure begins with meeting your Southern Discoveries local coach driver in Queenstown for a 7am start. The stunning drive from Queenstown to Milford Sound passes Lake Te Anau and stops for photo opportunities and short walks along Milford Road, including the Mirror Lakes. Your Southern Discoveries driver will share interesting and entertaining stories about your surroundings on the journey to Milford Sound, which you can enjoy to the full through the glass roof and large windows on the coach.
When you reach the Milford Sound Visitor Centre, get ready for the next part of your unforgettable day trip, the Southern Discoveries Nature Cruise. This cruise is set up for your every need, with free tea and coffee available, a licensed bar and lots of space onboard to view Milford Sound from all sides, as well as commentary from your friendly and passionate Southern Discoveries skipper. Southern Discoveries can also arrange for a picnic lunch to enjoy throughout your Nature Cruise, or make sure to bring your own packed lunch with water and snacks.
Milford Sound is renowned for its incredible amount of waterfalls, which only increases when it's raining. This makes the Southern Discoveries Milford Sound Coach & Cruise from Queenstown a must-do all weather activity, just make sure to remember your rain jacket! The Southern Discoveries Nature Cruise offers the amazing opportunity to get close to some of Milford Sound’s superb waterfalls and, if you’re lucky, spot wildlife such as dolphins, seals and penguins. After a wonderful 1hr 45 mins to 2 hours on the water, it will be time to head back to the Southern Discoveries coach for the journey back to Queenstown.

- Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but fur seals and bottlenose dolphins are often sighted year-round; the Fiordland Crested Penguin/Tawaki is known to visit Milford Sound during breeding season, August-November, and moulting season, March-April; rare Dusky dolphins have also occasionally been sighted at Milford Sound

- Coach pick-up times are indicative and may vary slightly depending on location and operational factors
- Guests must follow crew instructions at all times for safety reasons
- Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult
- By booking, passengers agree to Southern Discoveries’ full booking conditions and cancellation policy
- Unless otherwise stated, cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to departure
- Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure, or on the day of travel, are non-refundable
- Refund requests due to circumstances outside the passenger’s control must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the scheduled departure date
- Passengers are strongly advised to obtain appropriate travel insurance to cover cancellation fees and loss of personal belongings

Amazing trip from queenstown across to Milford. The coach was quality and Greg the driver was knowledgeable and entertaining. Absolute must to see Milford this way, even though it’s a long drive it’s an amazing trip through te anau and the Fiordland area. Top quality experience and recommended for anyone visiting the area.
