What you can expect

Cardrona Alpine Resort is well known for skiing but head up in Summer and the groomed slopes are replaced with awesome mountain bike trails! Cardrona is New Zealand's highest mountain bike park with uplifts to take you to the top of the trails because going dowhill is much more fun! The mountain offers trails for everyone from beginners to advanced riders and also offers a free pump track and beginner skills area to practice your technique before taking it to the trails. With fewer crowds than other bike parks you'll get way more laps in at Cardrona!

For those wishing to hire mountain bikes, Cardrona has a great bike fleet including full suspensions and downhill bikes for both adults and children. Bike rentals include the use of full face helmet and a set of pads and can be collected on the mountain to save transporting a bike up or down the hill.

Transfers are available from the Cardrona Hotel where you can jump on board a shuttle to the base station.

Inclusions
  • Choose to book: Lift passes, rental equipment & transfers
  • Mountain Bike Rental - includes full face helmet & safety pads
Duration
  • Allow 4 hours for half day mountain biking (3 hours biking time)
  • Allow 7 hours for full day mountain biking (6 hours biking time)
Departure Location
  • Open 10am - 5pm in peak season (26th Dec - 22nd Jan)
  • Open 10am - 4pm in off-peak season (15th - 24th Dec & 23rd Jan - 3rd Mar)
  • Open 12pm - 8pm every Friday
  • Full day lift pass & rental begins at 10am (12pm on Friday)
  • Half day lift pass & rental begins at 1pm (not available on Friday)
  • Self drive to Cardrona Alpine Resort (shuttle available from the Cardrona Hotel if required)
  • Operates in summer only (Dec - Mar)
Additional Information
  • All bike rentals include full face helmet & safety pads if required
  • We recommend purchasing the bike insurance to cover the cost of any damages that may occur
  • The mountain shuttle departs from Cardrona Hotel
  • Beginner, intermediate & advanced biking trails are available
  • There are on-mountain facilities including a cafe, restaurant & retail store
  • You must wear closed in footwear (ie runners), no open toe footwear
  • Ideally, wear shorts & a couple of layers on your top half
  • Downhill riding only
  • Children aged 0-5 years can gain a free lift pass
  • Child rates apply for 6-17 years
  • Multiday lift passes are open dated & can be used on any day of the summer season
  • Multiday bike rentals are based on consecutive days
  • Friday evenings are open until 8 pm - ask us about the TGIF pass!
