What you can expect
Experience the beauty of Lake Wakatipu but not just the top, what’s underneath the water. This self sustaining deep lake surrounded by awesome mountains ranges is fed by a number of rivers, try your luck at catching one of the trout or salmon species of fish that can be found in Lake Wakatipu.
With your highly experienced and friendly fisherman guide this is your chance to learn new lessons in fishing, upskill yourself and become a better fisherman / fisherwoman. A small group of people ensure that this experience is bespoke and personal. Cruise the beautiful Lake Wakatipu, share laughs and newly found skills with fellow fishing enthusiasts. A lot can happen in 3 hours – and we are here to prove that, with local knowledge of ‘hot spot’ fishing areas our crew make for excellent fishing mentors.

- How do I purchase my fishing license for the Queenstown lake fishing experience? The fishing license is not included in the price of the Queenstown lake fishing experience. You can purchase your fishing license from your guide on the day.
- What sort of fishing fly is used on the Queenstown lake fishing experience? The guides at Queenstown Fishing use what is called an imitation insect for the lake fishing experience. They come in all sorts of varieties and colours, some are small and large and some will sit on the top and others along the bottom. It will depend on which fish you are looking to catch on the day as to which one will be suitable.
- Can I join the Queenstown lake fishing experience as a spectator? Yes, spectators are able to join the Queenstown Fishing Tour on a standby basis. Please contact us for more information.
- Can we keep our catch on the Queenstown lake fishing experience? Yes, you are able to take your catch home with you at the end of the day!
- Child rates apply (6-12yrs)
- Children under 6yrs travel free of charge
- The fishing license is not included in the price and can be pre purchased onboard
- Alcohol isn't available to purchase onboard - but feel free to bring your own (Please drink responsibly)
- Lunch is not included
- We recommend you bring a sun hat/cap & sunglasses and in winter warm gloves & a jacket
- We promote catch and release
- 3 Hour Lake Fishing Experience is subject to a minimum of 2 adults or equivalent value to confirm, 4 passengers on NZ public holidays. If you have booked for one person you may be waitlisted, please call the night before to confirm your charter is going ahead

We had a great time on our small group fishing tour. Simon took us to a number of locations and gave us tips on fishing ( I was a learner) unfortunately we didn’t catch anything but would still recommend the your tour to others.
Fishing license isn’t included in charter price and 6 people on the boat but only 4 rods fishing was very disappointing and only 1 fish caught which they didn’t even realise had been caught 3 hrs for $400 wasn’t worth it give it a miss
I don’t know why I still can complete my online booking even the activity was already fully booked.
