Able to see snow for the first time! Great experience. We were able to drive to The Pines mountain base where we caught the free shuttle bus up to the resort. The staff at the resort were also really helpful. We only stayed for a couple of hours but you could spend more time there if you wanted. We had a swing and walked up to the totems. The views were amazing!

What you can expect
Step aboard the modern Spirit of Queenstown catamaran and cruise across Lake Wakatipu for a unique high-country experience at Walter Peak Farm. This relaxed and interactive Queenstown farm tour is ideal for families, animal lovers and anyone curious about New Zealand's fascinating farming traditions.
Your journey begins in central Queenstown, where you’ll board the Spirit of Queenstown for a scenic 45-minute lake cruise. On arrival at Walter Peak High Country Farm, your guide will take you on a tour of the farmyard. Meet and feed a range of friendly farm animals, including sheep, deer, cows and alpacas. You'll also enjoy a sheepdog demonstration in the outdoor amphitheatre, where you can watch some of Walter Peak's working dogs showing off their talents at rounding up sheep.
After exploring the Walter Peak Farm on your tour, it's time to visit the historic woolshed for freshly-baked afternoon tea. Tuck into scones, cakes and slices served with your choice of hot drinks. If time allows, you're also welcome to stroll through the gardens or browse the Walter Peak General Store before your return Queenstown lake cruise.

- Guided walking tour of the farmyard & chance to feed sheep, deer, cattle & alpacas
- Sheepdog demonstration & sheep shearing (seasonal) in the amphitheatre
- Freshly-baked afternoon tea including scones, cakes & slices
- Allow 4 hours
- 11:00am, 1:00pm & 3:00pm
- Check in at the RealNZ Visitor Centre, 88 Beach Street, Queenstown
- Operates daily all year
- The tour is suitable for all ages – children love meeting the animals!
- Child rates apply (5 -15yrs). Children 4yrs & under are free
- A licensed cafe is available during the Spirit of Queenstown lake cruise
- This excursion includes free time to explore the gardens, relax in the sunny courtyards, or browse the gift shop for souvenirs
- Please wear non-slip shoes, bring warm clothing/jacket, sunscreen and sunglasses

A trip on the Lake on the Earnslaw is a MUST for all visitors to Queenstown. To experience such an old steamship on a beautiful Lake is 'something else'. We did not include the optional Farm visit and from the comments of some who did we are glad we didn't stop there. They said the stopover was "far too long for what is on offer there".
