Join a day tour from Queenstown to Fox Glacier to enjoy the incredible scenery of the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Along the route you will take in the majestic Southern Alps, glassy turquoise lakes, flowing rivers and the rugged beauty of the West Coast, all packed into a one day tour!
As you depart Queenstown on board your luxury sightseeing coach, your guide for the day will provide you with commentary on the local surroundings. Pass the man-made Lake Dunstan, located just outside of Cromwell, before heading through the beautiful lifestyle reserve of Lake Wanaka and on towards Lake Hawea. You will have a brief stop in Makarora, a small village at the base of Mount Shrimpton where Otago meets the West Coast. Here you can enjoy a delicious morning tea.
From Makarora you will be following the route historically used by the Maori as they searched for Pounamu or green stone (as you may know it). Along the way you will be in awe of the ancient beech forests, waterfalls and turquoise rivers, fed by the surrounding glaciers. As you arrive on the West Coast the rainforest will become more vast with rugged mountain tops. Wind your way along the coastline for magnificent views of the glistening ocean to your side, this is the real New Zealand!
Your tour comes to an end on your arrival to Fox Glacier town, where from here you can explore the surrounding area.
