What you can expect

The combination of the breathtaking beauty of Mt Aspiring National Park and a heady adrenaline rush are unbeatable as you travel down the Bridal Stream in a variety of ways—by jumping, abseiling, ziplining and more!

Set against the stunning backdrop of Glenorchy, you will travel above the pristine turquoise waters of Lake Wakatipu to a hidden location deep in the Routeburn Valley. You will be awed and inspired by the incredible natural environment and the raw wilderness of an area not far from several locations used in the filming of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

What sets a canyon apart from an ordinary stream is that dramatic narrow passages are lovingly worn into bedrock over hundreds, thousands or even millions of years, leaving behind exquisitely sculpted walls and gushing waterfalls. Canyoning, or canyoneering as it is known in the US, involves exploring the streams and creeks situated within a canyon using various methods and tools, including walking, climbing, abseiling and swimming. Canyoning can be enjoyed in all kinds of weather and is one of the best ways to truly experience the wonders of nature.

All activities will be overseen by professional and qualified guides who will perform full demonstrations to ensure you feel safe and confident at all times. Safety briefings are carried out before each mission. After a 30 minute ascending walk through the bushlands you will arrive at the starting point of your canyoning adventure. This canyon is more challenging than the half day Queenstown canyon and is suited to people that have a strong level of fitness and high water confidence. Previous canyoning experience or similar is preferred. For non-swimmers, we recommend checking out the half day Queenstown tour instead.
