What you can expect
A paragliding flight with Skytrek, launched from stunning Coronet Peak, is an unforgettable experience. Coronet Peak is situated a mere 20 minutes drive from central Queenstown and is the highest take-off point for paragliders available on the market not only in New Zealand but also in the entire Southern Hemisphere.
At Coronet Peak, you have the option of various take off points. In the summer months, together with an experienced and knowledgeable tandem paragliding instructor, you will launch from the main area designated for take offs situated at roughly 4,000 feet (right under the ski field base building).
In the winter months, you will can do the Skytrek Winter Paragliding instead, where you take a brief ride in a chair lift to the ski field to launch from 5,400 feet.
You’ll be in the safe hands of your friendly, knowledgeable and extremely experienced tandem paragliding pilot, who will thoroughly brief you on safety before your flight and who will expertly take you through the procedures involved in lifting off and flying.

- How much time should we allow for Skytrek Summer Paragliding? The paragliding with Skytrek in Queenstown departs from Coronet Peak (which is a 15 minute drive out of Queenstown). The entire trip, including transport to and from Coronet Peak, as well as about 10-15 minutes flight time, takes about 90 minutes door to door. Free transfers from central Queenstown are included.
- Is there a minimum age requirement for Skytrek Summer Paragliding in Queenstown?? There is no minimum age requirement for Skytrek Summer Paragliding as long as they meet the weight requirement. Skytrek has flown passengers aged 4 to 84. Passengers aged 16 or under require parent's or guardian's permission.
- Can people come watch me do the Skytrek Summer Paragliding in Queenstown? The pick-up for Skytrek Summer Paragliding is in central Queenstown, and sometimes they can cater for spectators but cannot guarantee space in the van. Alternatively, if the spectators have a vehicle then they can drive themselves to Coronet Peak to watch.
- How long are you paragliding for? The Skytrek paragliding flight time averages between 10-20 minutes.
- The paragliding take-off height is much higher than the gondola in central Queenstown, offering a longer flight & incredible views
- Digital photos & video are available to purchase after the flight
- Warm clothing and sturdy footwear and sunglasses are recommended
- Flights average 10 to 20 minutes. Passengers can take the controls & fly the glider under supervision
- Maximum weight is 120kg, however reduces to 110kg from March to May (conditions apply)
- Skytrek has flown passengers aged 4 to 84. Passengers aged 16 or under require parent's or guardian's permission
