Three very different wineries, great information about the region and lovely wines. Tour driver was very knowledgeable. We had a small, fun group, starting the tour with a great lunch. Would recommend this tour when in the Queenstown region.

What you can expect

Discover the history of the production of wine in Queenstown on the Queenstown Wine Trail. You will discover how the region’s wines were sold commercially for the first time in 1987 with Gibbston Valley Wines’ first offerings. Since 1987, the area has become world renowned for its top notch wines, in particular pinot noir. Winemaking so far South of the equator is fascinating and fun!

The local climate subjects vineyards in the region to chilly winters and dry and warm summers. A big diurnal range also adds to the challenge of winemaking. Queenstown has risen to the challenge to emerge as one of the most famous winegrowing regions in the world and the proud recipient of numerous awards.

Every winery you encounter in the Queenstown area is the product of the grit, determination and genuine love for wine displayed by local viticulturalists and winemakers. Of the many vineyards in the Queenstown area, the best mix will be selected to enable you to enjoy your tour at a relaxed pace.

Your friendly, knowledgeable guide will accompany you as you depart from Queenstown and venture into the Wakatipu area, which plays host to wine country. Meet a representative from each vineyard at every stop who will help you get to know the wines you’ll try even more intimately. Whether you’re a sophisticated connoisseur or simply enjoy imbibing, you will enjoy every second of your wine tour.

Perfect for those with time constraints, the Wine & Food Tour with Queenstown Wine Trail maintains an easygoing pace and takes you on a tour of three of Queenstown’s favourite vineyards. You will also get to enjoy a food and wine match lunch.

  • Which wineries are visited on the Queenstown Wine Trail, and can we request specific wineries for a special wine tasting Queenstown experience? • Are Queenstown wine tours, such as the Queenstown Wine Trail, available on public holidays? Unfortunately many Queenstown wine tour companies are unavailable on public holidays, due to many venues either closing or requiring a surcharge.
  • What are Queenstown vineyards like in January, and are the grapes still on the vines during wine tasting Queenstown tours? In January, vineyards in Queenstown are in the process of grape formation, with the bunches starting to appear.
