Located in Rotorua, Off Road NZ have been delivering adventure, fun, great memories and lasting impressions since 1992. Their 4WD Bush Safaris rides are considered some of the best – if not the best – self-driven, off road vehicle experiences in New Zealand.
After learning the ropes from your professional and friendly guide (during which time, you will probably be squirming with nerves and anticipation!) you will suit up in your safety and protection gear and get that engine revving. The terrain on the 4WD Bush Safari is definitely unique and packed with exciting challenges, such as thrilling climbs and descents, sharp turns that will leave you sweating and big, huge, muddy, fun puddles. Every second of this safari is filled with fun and action!

- 4WD Bush Safari – allow 45 minutes to an hour
- Depart every hour from 9am to 5pm
- Free return transfers from your Rotorua accommodation or meet at Off Road NZ which is located 20 minutes north of Rotorua, off State Highway 5, heading towards Hamilton / Auckland
- Operates all year (rain, hail or shine!)
- Off Road NZ provides all wet whether & safety equipment for our Rotorua 4WD Bush Safari. All you need to bring is sun protection for the summer, your camera to catch the action, a big sense of adventure & a ‘can do’ attitude
- 4WD Bush Safari - drivers need to have a licence. You need to sign a waiver confirming you have a current drivers licence in your country of origin
- If I am a passenger only on the 4WD Bush Safari, do I still pay? Yes, the cost is a per person cost. Being the passenger can be just as thrilling & challenging as being the driver. Children can come along as passengers at child rate
- Will I get dirty at Off Road NZ? Off Road NZ provides all wet weather protection to keep you clean

Two parts. First part. The drive experience was amazing. The guides were knowledgeable and kind. Check in was easy and went well. Second part. We booked on Get Your Guide and it said $337. When we checked in the manger told us this was not the actual price because we had 4 participants and that the price we paid was for two. We agreed to split the difference as there were four of us and paid an extra $60. Later we went online again tried to book it for four participants and it was $337. Then while driving they put all four of us in one vehicle. No issue on our end, but while following the guide a tire popped. We assumed this was normal wear and tear as we do nothing extra and followed the guide completely. When we got back they informed us we owed an additional $300. We were very upset, but it didn’t matter. All in all, the drive was great, but the experience was poor considering we paid almost double what we intended too.
