These days, it’s practically impossible to think of New Zealand without associating it with the adrenaline fuelled adventures that you can enjoy there, and jet boating is synonymous with an adrenaline rush!
Experience the white knuckled rush of a 30 minute jet boat tour on Lake Rotorua. Feel the high powered engines blast you over the water, reaching speeds of up to 85km/h. During your trip you will visit iconic landmarks including Kawaha Point, Mokoia Island and Sulphur Bay, while discovering the history of this world famous tourist destination.
Katoa Jet rides depart from the jetty on Rotorua’s scenic lakefront, just a short trip from the centre of town. As you jump on the sleek yellow jet, you will need to take notice of just how beautiful Lake Rotorua is, because you are about to see it as only a blur! For half an hour, as you pass four historic landmarks, you will be white-knuckled and testing the limits of your adrenaline during the 360 degree spins and speed of this awesome ride. See Mokoia Island, the Sacred Island and Sulphur Lake as you’ve never seen them before – through pupils enlarged by excitement! There’s no better way to see this glorious section of New Zealand.
Afterwards, you can purchase photos of your jet boat adventure, but be warned – the photographs may have captured the embarrassingly goofy look of terror on your face, so showing them to family and friends is optional.

- Will I get wet? Very likely! But it does depend on where you sit in the boat and we do have spray jackets available if you don’t want to get wet
- How many people can go on the boat? The boats will take 11, 18 and 25 people
- Can I fall out of the boat? No, falling out of the boat is very unlikely. The driver will explain what to do and what not to do to prevent falling out
- Child rates apply (5-14yrs)
- Infants (2-4yrs) travel free of charge
- Minimum age of 2 years old
- This tour is not suitable for pregnant women
- Please advise upon booking if you have any health conditions such as neck/back injuries
- Wear a warm jacket or fleece, casual footwear, sunglasses & sunscreen
- Phones can be taken out on the jet boat at your own risk
- No bags or large items are permitted on the boat
- Photos of your adventure are available to purchase after your trip
- Katoa Jet has no age restrictions and it is quite safe and a lot of fun for kids
- Available for all ages
- Child rate applies to 14 years old and under.
- 2 – 4 year old are free (1 per adult).
- Pregnant passengers are not able to ride, and unsuitable for those with neck/back injuries.
- At least 24 hours’ notice of cancellation will be required to receive full refund, any cancellation notice within 24 hours will be charged at 100%.
