Wānaka Helicopter Flight with Snow Landing - 1 Hour

Fly into the Southern Alps on a one hour helicopter flight from Wānaka, finishing with a landing on alpine snow deep in the ranges. Your pilot runs an in depth safety briefing before you lift off, then the country opens up around you: sheer rock faces on either side, waterfalls dropping down the cliffs, and lush native forest giving way to bare stone and snow as you climb further in.

This is remote alpine terrain that takes days to reach on foot and 60 minutes to take in from the air. The landing is the part people talk about afterwards. The skids settle onto the snow, the rotors wind down, and you step out into complete quiet with peaks in every direction. One piece of local advice: wear proper warm layers, because the temperature up on the snow is nothing like the temperature back at the airport. The flight runs at any time of year, so pick your season and go.
