Starting in the historic township of Cromwell, you’ll ride along the scenic Lake Dunstan Trail, renowned for its captivating views and rich history tied to the gold rush era. The trail, suitable for confident and physically fit riders, spans 42 kilometres and is graded between 1 and 3. It winds alongside the vibrant teal waters of Lake Dunstan, as well as the Kawarau and Clutha Rivers, providing a picturesque backdrop that is will require plenty of photo stops! Potential points of interest along the way are the Carrick Winery, Coffee/Burger Afloat (approx 17km into the ride) and the historic town of Clyde at the end of the trail.

Included in this package is a morning transfer to Cromwell and a return shuttle from Clyde, as well as your Lake Dunstan trail bike hire. Opt for either state-of-the-art e-bikes from New Zealand's esteemed Sinch brand (highly recommended) or Specialized Rockhopper Elite regular bikes perfect for trail riding. The e-bikes are designed to enhance your riding experience, offering various modes from Eco to Turbo to match your energy levels and riding style.

You'll be picked up and dropped off by a spacious Mercedes Long Wheel Base Sprinter, making it a comfortable trip even for the tallest of passengers.   • If departing from Cromwell, please meet at the Cromwell McNulty Inlet carpark (next to the public toilets)
  • If departing from Wanaka, please meet at the Lakefront Bus Stop, Wanaka (next to the public toilets)

Additional Information
  • Please bring weather appropriate clothing that you can cycle in, a water bottle (bottle holder included on bike), snacks, lunch, spending money, sunscreen, warm layers and a camera
  • We strongly recommend bringing gloves and a wind-proof layer in winter months (May-September)
  • The minimum age is 15 years
  • Minimum height is 140cm
  • Suitable for confident riders with a good level of fitness
  • Please provide the full name and height of each rider upon booking
  • There is no road access to the trail for the last 25km so you will need to be properly prepared for this ride
  • The trail is grade 1-3 with a mixture of gravel trails, boardwalks and dirt tracks
  • A team member will drive you, set up your bikes for you, provide a safety briefing and then meet you at Clyde to return you to the start point

e-bikes worked well, staff was very informative and professional. Loved the ride, views were amazing. Unfortunately the coffee boat wasn't open for our adventure (we rode on Thursday and boat is only open Saturday, Sunday). If you like cycling, I highly recommend this adventure.
