Wanaka Max Helicopter Flight

The Wanaka Max helicopter flight gives you a wide aerial sweep of the region with two alpine landings. Your 45 minute flight lifts off from Wanaka and climbs quickly above Lake Wanaka before heading across the Matukituki River and the high country stations that border Mt Aspiring National Park. Your pilot chooses two alpine landing points, including Coromandel Peak on Mt Roy when available, where you can look straight across the lake to Wanaka township and the surrounding peaks.

From the air you will see the braids of the Matukituki River, snow on the upper ranges and the sharp contrast between Lake Hawea and Stevensons Arm. On some flights you may also spot Mou Waho Island and its small lake set high above the main lake, often described as a lake within a lake.
