The Te Puia geothermal wonderland is a 70-hectare area within the Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, home to fascinating geothermal attractions, as well as a Kiwi Conservation Centre and Maori Arts & Crafts Institute. As part of the Te Ra Guided Experience, your guide will take you on a geothermal walk past bubbling mud pools, geysers and native bush. Make sure to look out for the famous Pohutu geyser - the largest geyser in the southern hemisphere!
Also included in your Te Puia guided tour is entry to the Kiwi Conservation Centre. This new addition to Te Puia is the perfect way to get up close to the national icon of New Zealand, the kiwi bird. See how these nocturnal birds live and learn about their history from your Te Puia guide.
This Rotorua geothermal park is steeped in history and culture, which you can explore at the Maori Arts & Crafts Institute during the Te Ra Guided Experience. Witness the mesmerising art of traditional Maori carving & weaving, as well as visiting the life-sized model Pre-European Maori Village.
