Doubtful Sound, one of New Zealand’s most remote fiords, offers a rare wilderness made accessible through our unforgettable single-day adventure. Cruise its 40km stretch of pristine waterways, surrounded by untouched nature, towering peaks and powerful waterfalls. New Zealand’s deepest fiord is home to bottlenose dolphins, NZ fur seals and Fiordland crested penguins.
Start with a scenic cruise across Lake Manapouri, then journey over the epic Wilmot Pass through lush Fiordland rainforest. Enjoy fascinating commentary from your coach driver on the area’s history and filming locations before boarding a spacious vessel for a 2.5-hour cruise through astounding scenery. Your experienced nature guide will provide commentary and answer your questions. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, including fur seals basking in the sun and bottlenose dolphins in the waters.

- Is the Doubtful Sound day cruise accessible if you have difficulty getting in and out of small boats? The cruise is very accessible if you have a walker as there are ramps on and off the boat. The only issue you will encounter are steps, you would need to be able to get up steps to board the coach.
- Is there a toilet on the Doubtful Sound day cruise and the bus? There is a toilet on the cruise across Lake Manapouri, they have toilets at the Visitor Centre before you board the coach, then it is short 45-minute coach trip into Deep Cove, once at deep Cove you will board the vessel for your day cruise which also has toilets on board.
- Does the Doubtful Sound day tour include a visit to the power station? Unfortunately, you are unable to visit the power station at the moment.
- Is there free parking in Manapouri for the Doubtful Sound Wilderness Cruise? Yes, there is free parking right next to the cruise terminal for the Doubtful Sound Day cruise.
