What you can expect

Ditch the chair lift queues of the surrounding ski fields and head into the heart of the mountains to explore The Tasman Glacier for an off-piste ski trip of a lifetime. The Tasman is New Zealand's longest glacier measuring in at an astonishing 27km. Operating since the 70's, Ski The Tasman will be the highlight of your trip with knowledgeable and experienced guides to lead the way.  

Joining like-minded skiers in intimate groups of 7 per guide you will explore the powdery white vastness of the Tasman Glacier at a relaxed pace. You will land at 2500 feet for your first run of the day with a vertical descent of 1000 metres over 8 - 10 kilometres. After your first run you will stop for a delicious picnic lunch on the snow, giving you time to take in the imposing silence of the mountain range and the crisp mountain air that encompasses you. Then it's time for your second run, carving the fresh abundant snow to create your very own white lines. Your professional guide will take you to the azure blue ice caves and towering seracs, leaving you with a truly unforgettable experience.

This trip is great for intermediate to advanced skiers or those experiencing their first time on powder as you will ski on easy to moderate terrain, with a similar difficulty to that of a pisted blue run.

Additional Information
  • Moderate fitness required
  • Skiers must be of intermediate skill or higher (we reserve the right to shorten or cancel trips for guests who's ability is not appropriate)
  • Not suitable for snowboarders due to the nature of the runs
  • Minimum age is 10 years. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian
  • Ski The Tasman trips are weather-dependent. If weather cancellation is unavoidable the trip is fully refundable
  • Bring with you a small backpack for essentials such as water, suntan lotion and your camera
  • Skis, boots and poles can be supplied if required. Please advise at the time of booking
  • Advanced bookings are essential
