This one-hour guided ride is the perfect introduction for beginners, while still offering plenty of enjoyment for experienced riders. Just 10 minutes from Queenstown Airport, this scenic adventure is a convenient and memorable way to explore one of the region’s most iconic river valleys.
Set beneath the towering Remarkables, the trail follows the banks of the stunning Shotover River. Depending on the season, riders are treated to a range of colours—from golden leaves in autumn to vibrant lupins in summer. You may even cross a river or two, with your friendly local guide tailoring the pace and route to suit your level of experience.
A M Equestrian’s horses are well-trained, responsive sport horses, offering a genuine connection for every rider. Your tour includes a safety briefing, horse match-up, and a short warm-up in the arena before heading out.

Recent reviews
Appalling lack of communication from both Everyhing NZ and Shotover riding. Following my booking (and money taken from my account) I received no confirmation or communication from Shotover River Trails. I emailed Everything NZ three times, tried to contact via their chat bot three times, tried their WhatsApp number and even tried going directly to the riding center to find out if the booking was going ahead (no one there). I finally got an email over two days later - after the time the riding should have taken place.
Nice and chill ride with the horses and the scenery is also remarkable. The guide is very friendly and helpful and made sure it was a good trip.
