What you can expect

Join a guided day hike on the Routeburn Track to Key Summit and experience a section of one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. After pick up from Te Anau, this small-group hike starts at The Divide and follows a well-formed alpine track through Fiordland National Park, offering panoramic views of mountains, valleys and alpine lakes.

The day begins with a scenic drive along the Milford Road to The Divide, the one of the starting points of the Routeburn Track. After morning tea with freshly baked treats, your hike begins through native beech forests, gradually climbing towards Key Summit. Along the way, your expert guide will share insights about the unique flora, fauna and history of the area.

At Key Summit (918m), take in sweeping views of the Humboldt and Darran mountain ranges. There’s time to relax, enjoy a packed picnic lunch and explore the alpine wetlands before descending back down the track.

This 7km return hike involves a 400m elevation gain and is suited to those with moderate to high fitness levels. With a maximum group size of 12, this Routeburn Track day hike provides a personalised experience in Fiordland National Park.
