For a small place Te Anau has a lot to offer. The tourism industry has ensured there’s always plenty to do here. Cruises, heli scenic and fixed wing airplane flights are by far the most popular, however there is also great fishing, golf, four wheel off roading, sea kayaking and diving to wet your taste buds. On a sunny day it’s a beautiful place to just sit around and do very little at all. 
 
One of the unique experiences in Te Anau is visiting the <a href="/en/te-anau/te-anau-glowworm-caves">Glow Worm Caves</a>. Here you will have the chance to explore a living cave, still in formation and home to tens of thousands of glow worms. Te Anau is nestled within an open basin, surrounded by huge, rugged mountains. During the winter they are picture perfect capped with snow. During the summer water skiing and picnics near the lake are a family favourite.
