Absolutely loved the Milford Sound trip. It is a must do! I’d highly recommend spending the night in Te Anau to break up the trip. We had Terry drive us from Te Anau to Milford, he was really friendly, knew all the great photo spots and gave informative commentary. Really nice just to be able to sit back and have someone else get you there. Particularly handy if you’re not so confident driving in icy conditions as we went in Winter and the Milford Road can get a bit of black ice in spots. Loved the cruise too, the overall experience surpassed expectations and was the highlight of our trip.
Amazing trip and well worth going the distance.

The film, which is 30 minutes long and is included in the ticket price, will enable you to get to know the otherwise inaccessible wilderness of the Fiordland World Heritage area. Your adventure will conclude with a leisurely drive back to Te Anau or Queenstown.
The Boat Ride Mitre Peak Cruises will enable you to experience the spectacular fiord in the most intimate way possible by taking you way up close, accessing spots larger boats are unable to. Enjoy the full extent of Milford Sound’s beauty in ways you’ve never imagined.
Find out fascinating facts from the informative commentary of your knowledgeable guides who will alert you to notable sights including the 160 metre Bowen falls, the quintessential valley the Sinbad Gully, magnificent Mount Pembroke with its snow-capped peak and the grand Mitre Peak, which, starting from the ocean floor, measures a staggering 1,692 metres.
The smaller vessels of about 20 metres enable Mitre Peak Cruises to take you much closer to shore than larger vessels can, enabling you to experience the stunning scenery from an even better vantage point. Built specially to ply the waters of Milford, the boat is the perfect place from which to view endangered fur seals, once almost extinct due to hunting, the elusive Fiordland crested penguins and playful dusky dolphins.
Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound receive more rainfall than the rest of New Zealand and are a sight to behold no matter what the weather conditions of the day.
The Walk On the return journey back from Milford Sound to Te Anau, stop off on the Milford Road to experience a series of beautiful guided walks with Trips & Tramps through ancient rainforest and alpine valleys. If you are travelling in November & December, you may be lucky enough to see the famous Mt Cook lilies in bloom during your walk. Guided walks will take a maximum of 45 minutes and will be tailored to suit the walking ability & interest of your group on the day. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the spectacular scenery on Milford Road up close & take photos.
