The Fox Glacier Heli Hike combines the best of both worlds to give you an immersive, unforgettable experience on New Zealand's West Coast. Enjoy the thrills of walking on the Fox Glacier itself with the magical experience of a helicopter flight. With aerial access, you’re able to explore some of the most remote parts of the glacier, where nature’s forces are hard at work creating breathtaking ice caves and arches.
Begin your trip with a helicopter flight that sweeps over the pinnacles of the lower icefall, before landing on the ice at approximately 800 metres above sea level. Here, you’ll be able to glimpse Victoria Falls as your guide outfits you with crampons specifically designed for these conditions. Weather permitting, ice time is up to 3 hours. With no two expeditions the same thanks to nature’s ongoing changes, you’ll discover an ever-changing environment that’s both remote and welcoming in its grandeur. It’s time to meet the Fox Glacier during your heli hike adventure!

However, you do need a reasonable level of fitness, as you will spend around 3 hours hiking on the ice with some uneven terrain and gentle undulation.

- Please bring: warm clothing including 3-4 layers of upper body clothing, sunglasses & sun protection, a bag with snacks & a drink, hat & gloves, camera & any medication required. Jeans are not recommended, please wear warm comfortable trousers
