Looking for the biggest skydive in the southern hemisphere? Look no further and join Skydive Franz Josef and Fox Glacier on an 16,500ft skydive over breathtaking glaciers, lush rainforests, rugged mountains, braided river beds and glassy glacial lakes.
An 16,500ft skydive will give you 70 seconds of adrenaline fueled freefall at speeds of up to 200kmph whilst you take in the scenery of the Westland and Mount Cook National Parks.

- Please note that bookings from April 1st 2026, will incur a $20 Per Person surcharge payable on the day of your booking. Surcharges will be collected directly at check-in, at the base

- All your equipment including tandem skydiving jumpsuit, helmet, goggles & gloves
- Tandem skydive from 16,500ft
Duration
- Allow 2-3 hours once you arrive at the drop zone
Departure Location
- 8:30am, 10:30am, 1:00pm & 3:30pm in summer (Nov-Apr)
- 9:00am, 12:00pm & 3:00pm in winter (May-Oct)
- Departs from Skydive Franz Josef & Fox Glacier, 69 Cron Street, Franz Josef Glacier Base
- Operates daily all year
Additional Information
- Maximum weight limit is 100kgs. All persons over 100kg are subject to Tandem Master assessment and a surcharge at the drop zone
- The minimum weight is 30kg (66lbs) & all passengers must be big enough to fit safely into the harness
- No age limit, under 18 years must have written consent from a parent or guardian
- Photo packages can be purchased on the day. Choose from a handcam (up close, wide angle photos & videos taken by your tandem master), Personal Photographer (photos & videos taken by your own personal skydive cameraman) or best of both worlds (the ultimate - all camera angles with photos & video)
- Please wear closed shoes. Jandals/flip flops or bare feet are not permitted
- Skydiving is weather dependent, we suggest you book at the beginning of your trip so you can reschedule if necessary
- You will be provided with tandem skydiving jumpsuit, helmet, goggles & gloves
- Wear warm clothing if jumping in winter
- Glasses or contact lenses are ok to wear
- We suggest that all people that wish to participate that have a health concern, consult their doctor or specialist first to see if it is OK, especially heart conditions, sinus & ear problems & anyone that has had problems with consciousness
