Explore the fiordland of Doubtful Sound from Manapouri, rich in flora and fauna and home to a variety of wildlife including New Zealand Fur Seals, Fiordland Crested Penguins and Dolphins. Doubtful Sound is the deepest of the fiords at 421 metres deep and is over 40km to the ocean. The sound has three distinct arms and numerous outstanding waterfalls. In comparison with Milford Sound it is a much more serene location where you can enjoy the breathtaking "Sounds of Silence" a short interval where the boats engines are turned off and you can briefly experience the true silence of the area. Fewer boats travel on the waters of Doubtful Sound, creating a peaceful and intimate experience. The fiordland is accessible via Manapouri with a brief boat ride over Lake Manapouri. Day trips offer transfers from Te Anau and Queenstown if required and the fiordland can be explored in a number of ways including an overnight cruise on board The Navigator, a Wilderness Day Cruise with Real Journeys or a kayaking exploration with Go Orange.
