What you can expect

Have the time of your life and experience all the natural marvels that Rangitoto Island has to offer! On this tour, you will experience the exciting combination of a picturesque ferry trip to Rangitoto Island and a self guided tour of the island, where you can summit the dormant volcano, explore Lave Caves and Beaches.

After boarding a ferry from Auckland ferry terminal, you'll enjoy a 25 minute cruise, which floats you across the beautiful Waitemata Harbour and the scenic Hauraki Gulf, toward Rangitoto Island. This spectacular journey not only allows you to view the gorgeous scenery on offer.

Once you reach Rangitoto Island, you'll be able to actually feel the rugged lava crops, formed by the massive volcano – this experience will leave you in awe of the magnitude and power that Mother Earth can wield. As you progress along through native bushland and phenomenal volcanic terrain on your self-guided walk, you will see the amazing history and geology of this magnificent island.

If you choose to climb to the summit, you will encounter a sturdy, wooden boardwalk – and from there, it's only a short stroll to the mountain top. The stunning 360 degree views of the Hauraki Gulf and back towards the city skyline will have you absolutely mesmerised. This is definitely a trip you will want to bring your camera for!
