What you can expect

Spend the day exploring the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, New Zealand’s most significant historic site, and finish with an authentic hangi dinner and Maori concert in the evening. Your two-day admission pass gives you time to enjoy the guided tour, museums and daytime cultural performance before the evening celebration of Maori culture and cuisine

During the day, join a guided tour to learn about the people and events that shaped the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. Explore the heritage buildings, the world’s largest ceremonial waka, and two world-class museums — Te Kongahu Museum of Waitangi and Te Rau Aroha Museum of the Price of Citizenship.

In the evening, gather at the Whare Waka Cafe to watch the chef lift the food from the earth oven. Enjoy a buffet meal of meats, vegetables, salads, bread and steamed pudding cooked in the traditional hangi style.

The night continues inside Te Whare Runanga with a lively cultural experience featuring a warrior challenge, poi, waiata and haka. This powerful performance shares stories of Maori traditions and life connected to the natural world, rounding out a full day at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
