Great ferry crossing and return. Wonderful island Urupukapuka. Very disappointed that no compensation given at the checkin counter as one member had to cancel due to ill health.

What you can expect

One of the Bay of Islands’ best kept secrets, Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island is a must see for visitors and accessible via the Otehei Bay Ferry. There is plenty to do on the island, from exploring walking tracks to relaxing at secluded beaches. Whatever you choose to do, you will be surrounded by spectacular Bay of Islands scenery and an abundance of wildlife.

The Otehei Ferry is a short 40 minute ferry transfer departing from either Paihia or Russell. There are plenty of departures throughout the day, allowing you to spend either a few hours or even a full day on Urupukapuka Island.

Once you arrive, you can explore Urupukapuka Island at your own pace with several amazing island activities on offer. Relax on the beachfront and soak in the unbeatable Bay of Islands views, hire a kayak and paddle around Otehei Bay, go swimming, discover the many walking trails around the island, or find out about the Project Island Song conservation programme. With so much to see and do, you may also like to refuel by purchasing drinks and snacks at the licensed Otehei Bay Cafe & Bar.

They sold tickets that they didn't have, for a ferry that turned out to be sold out. There was no transparency of the fact the site on-sells another company's tickets that may or may not be available, despite specifically asking this on the phone. The ticket receipt from Everything NZ showed a different ferry time (the sold out boat) than the Fullers ticket (a later sailing that didn't shit) when it finally came through, proving the fact. This conduct should be illegal.
