The zip lines had great views, and I felt safe the whole time. The nature walk was nice, I learned a lot about the NZ ecosystem. Only downside was that it was a bit short, only 3 zip lines.

The zipline was a great experience. The staff were able to explain the zipline and any safety messages in a clear but humorous manner. The first timers of the group were nervous to begin with but that quickly went away. Beautiful experience zipping over the forest and looking out at the cityThe ziplining included a bush walk at the end with some explanation of the natural bush around which was very informative. Staff were happy to drop us off along the way to our next destination.

What you can expect

EcoZip Adventures is built on the stunning sub tropical island of Waiheke, just a 35 minute ferry from downtown Auckland. EcoZip Adventures gives you the opportunity to view the island from a spectacular vantage point as you fly through the sky at speeds of up to 60kmph on 200 metre long zip lines.

Your ziplining adventure begins with a 20 minute Waiheke Highlights Tour showcasing the island’s stunning beaches and vineyards as you make your way to Zip HQ situated at the top of Trig Hill. From here you can take in 360 degree views of Waiheke Island and beyond from the viewing deck before making your way across the air bridge to the take off tower.

The three unique dual ziplines allow you to share the experience, zipping side by side next to your friend! With three lines to experience you will enjoy breathtaking speeds and amazing views from the safety of your harness.

Zip One - Vineyard Cruise - Soar above a working vineyard which produces award winning Syrah wine and see the neat rows of nearly 2,000 vines. This zipline has the most shallow gradient with a 220m long line making it a gentle introduction to ziplining.

The incredible backdrop includes Auckland’s skyline which shimmers in the distance beyond the islands of the Hauraki Gulf with the moody silhouette of volcanic Rangitoto Island in the foreground.

Zip Two - City View - Increases the tempo on the City View line which takes you higher and faster! As the name suggests this zipline gives you magnificent views of Auckland city. At around 200m long, this zipline flies you through and then over the forest canopy giving you a unique perspective of the site which has been designated as a Site of Environmental Significance. You can sit back and relax in your harness to enjoy the ride, or ‘do the bomb’ and race your fellow zipliner to the landing deck. Just remember to look down and enjoy the beautiful patterns created by the native tree ferns as you experience a birds eye view of the centuries old forest.

Zip Three - Kurinui - This is the main event! Kurinui is a Māori word but we'll leave it to your zipline guide to explain its meaning. With a 220m gradient this is the steepest of the ziplines and will zip you along at speeds in excess of 50kmph, faster than you can legally drive on Waiheke’s roads! You may also get to experience another surprise when the zipline passes over the City View line.

On your return to Zip HQ you’ll be treated to a guided nature walk through ancient forest, where you’ll learn about the history of Waiheke and the conservation of the incredible natural environment.
