Visit Christchurch’s favourite animal park with general admission & guided tours at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. This Christchurch wildlife attraction is a fantastic way to get up close to both New Zealand native and exotic animals. Great fun for all the family!

Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is widely-acclaimed for being home to one of the best ranges of native wildlife in New Zealand. You will have the chance to see all sorts of native New Zealand species in their natural environments, including the iconic Tuatara, Kea and Kiwi Bird. As you explore this must-do Christchurch attraction, you will come across many more creatures from around the globe, such as lemurs, llamas and even monkeys!

Located on the outskirts of Christchurch, Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is a picturesque setting with views over Christchurch and the surrounding area. There is plenty of animal entertainment on offer, from hands-on interactions with Deer, Wallabies & Lemurs to meeting giant Clydesdale horses & miniature horses. You will also see New Zealand’s ‘Big 5’ must-see animals - the kiwi, the kaka (bush parrot), the cheeky kea, the rare takahe bird and tuatara (ancient reptile).

  • The Kiwi Nocturnal House opens at 10:30am daily
  • Animal feeding times: Otters (10:45am), Eels (11:50am), Gibbons (12:45pm) & Kea (1:00pm)
  • You can purchase animal food to feed some animals yourself near the ticket desk (additional cost)
