Night Activities & Tours

There is so much to see and do in New Zealand, even when the sun goes down! New Zealand is home to some of the clearest skies in the Southern Hemisphere, which makes stargazing one of the top things to do in New Zealand at night. You can visit the Mt John Observatory in Tekapo on the iconic Dark Sky Project stargazing experience, or combine stargazing with the hot pools at Tekapo Springs. Often night is also the best time to see wildlife. Head out on the Wild Kiwi Encounter in Stewart Island for a chance to see New Zealand's infamous kiwi bird, or go on a kayaking tour in Tauranga to see thousands of glittering glow worms. If food and wine is more your thing, check out dining experiences at night such as the Walter Peak Evening Dining & Lake Cruise in Queenstown or the Te Pa Tu Maori Cultural Experience in Rotorua.
