Auckland Zoo is home to 135 different species with over 1400 animals and the largest most diverse group of wildlife in Aotearoa. All this at just minutes from Aucklands city centre! With over 17 hectares of parkland the zoo features a variety of animals from elephants, rhinos and giraffes to lions, tigers and red pandas as well as exotic birds and stunning flora and fauna. With something for everyone the whole family is guaranteed to have a great day out at Auckland Zoo!
Explore the Australia enclosure with wallabies, emus and peacocks or visit the rainforest and discover primates including lemurs and orangutans or wander through the African pridelands and discover giraffes, lions, rhinos, flamingos and hippos.
With numerous Keeper Talks throughout the day you will leave with a wealth of knowledge from the Zoos passionate team.
Te Wao Nui – The Living Realm at Auckland Zoo
Te Wao Nui is an immersive experience of New Zealands animals, plants and culture. It is home to 75 native animals and over 100 plant species. At over a fifth of the zoos 17 hectares it is made up of six zones which reflect the different landscapes of Aotearoa and the relationship with land, animals and Maori. With specialist guided tours, Maori carvings and multimedia you will be immersed in the conservation of these species. You will also have exciting opportunities to meet native species up close and personal.
