Activities to do in Auckland - Auckland New Zealand Sailing Tours - Skyjump Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city with a population of just over one million people and growing fast. Although most think of it as the capital it is not. Auckland is however the centre of commerce and industry, and is perhaps the most colourful, bustling and multicultural city in the country. Auckland is the biggest Polynesian city in the world, and this cultural influence is reflected in many different aspects of city life.

The city's landscape is dominated by volcanic hills, the twin harbours, bays, beaches and islands. Its nickname 'the City of Sails' is very apt. Auckland has more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world.

Auckland New Zealand lies between the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours, and its geography is such that glistening waters seem to beckon from every point. It is a water lover's paradise for Auckland activities, with some of the best beaches, bridge climbjet boat, skyjump and skywalk, swimming, diving, fishing, sailing, windsurfing and watersports in the country.

Auckland has all of the large-scale attractions you would expect of a big city – museums, galleries, zoos and family amusement parks. Many are free or inexpensive.

Auckland's amazing geography and warm, humid climate has inspired a lifestyle that's regularly ranked in the world's top ten. In just half an hour you can be almost anywhere: sailing to an island, trekking through the rainforest, picnicking on a volcano or sampling wines at a vineyard.

Why visit Auckland?
Auckland has just about everything that you could want from a travel destination. While being the centre of commerce and industry, Auckland is not just any other big city. With its cultural attractions, volcanic landscape and neighbouring islands, Auckland has loads to offer and is jam packed with great activities for all the family! You can find some great Auckland activity deals here.

What are the best activities in Auckland?
The Sky Tower is arguably Auckland’s most iconic landmark. Standing at 328 metres tall you will not be able to miss it! A trip to the top of the Sky Tower will give you spectacular views over the whole city and if this isn’t enough, you can try out AJ Hackett’s SkyWalk which will take you on a platform around the outside of the tower. Better still, why not leap off the tower and do the insane Auckland SkyJump? The rush is unbeatable! For those adrenaline junkies out there who think that this is not high enough, then you'll be pleased to know that Auckland is home to New Zealand’s highest skydive (20,000ft). Try out this awesome jump with Auckland Skydive with a spectacular and unique backdrop of both the east and west coast of New Zealand!

Being a city nestled between two harbours, Auckland also has some great sailing trips on offer. A day trip out to Waiheke Island will not disappoint. Not only will you get to enjoy a scenic cruise to this beautiful Island and spend the day checking out the beaches and scenery, Waiheke Island is full of vineyards and that means wine! Now what could be better than a day on a beautiful island sampling some of New Zealand’s finest wines or try the epic Waiheke Zipline.

Being on the harbour, Auckland is also home to some great water activities. Auckland Sea kayaking is a great way to explore the region. Take a kayaking trip to Rangitoto Island where you can see one of Auckland's many inactive volcanoes!

Where to eat in Auckland?
Viaduct harbour is packed full of restaurants and bars, so if you are looking for a nice evening out with ocean views while having your dinner then this is the place to be!
