Description

Canyoning in the Abel Tasman National Park is one of the most exhilarating ways to explore it! On the Torrent River Canyon tour, your day will begin with a scenic and exciting water taxi ride through the Astrolabe Roadstead into Anchorage. Leaving the beautiful beaches behind you will start on a one and a half hour hike further into the National Park. Throughout the walk, your friendly and knowledgeable guides will entertain you with stories of the history, culture, flora, and fauna of the National Park.

Before the action begins you will have the chance to enjoy lunch at the top of the canyon and then it's time to suit up for the main event. Following a safety briefing from your guide, you will enter the remote part of the canyon and begin the descent jumping, sliding, abseiling, scrambling, floating, and ziplining through the canyon. The finisher of the trip is a royal slide into Cleopatras Pool followed by a thirty minute walk along the river and beach back to Anchorage where your water taxi will take you back to Marahau.

Departures

• Departs at 8 am & 9.30 am (depending on weather)
• Meet at the Aqua Taxi base in Marahau – 275 Sandy Bay Marahau Road or pick up from nearby accommodation
• Operates Oct - April only (does not operate during winter)

Other Information

• No previous canyoning experience is required. A full demonstration of every activity will be provided
• Participants must be comfortable in the water to join the tour
• Participants must have a moderate level of fitness, i.e you would be able to tramp or ski for a whole day
• Minimum age 12yrs
• You must disclose any medical conditions and/or special needs upon booking. E.g. diabetes, asthma, heart problems, epilepsy, back injuries, allergies, etc. Please note: most medical conditions do not necessarily exclude you from participating, please contact us to discuss
• Bring with you swimwear & a towel, shorts, t-shirt. warm layer for the taxi ride, closed toe shoes e.g. sneakers (which are going to get wet!)
• You will be exposed to heights of up to 10 meters. The jumps & slides are optional
• Environmental access fee of $10-$15 NZD per person included in price
