Description
Kayak through Abel Tasman National Park at your leisure and spend the night on a beach with Golden Bay Kayaks’ 2 Day Taupo Point Overnight trip. This self-guided adventure offers the chance for those with a little kayaking experience to explore the secluded coastline of Northern Abel Tasman over two days, away from the crowds and surrounded by just nature and wildlife. Taupo Point has been named the most beautiful beach in the Abel Tasman National Park, and camping overnight at this scenic location is a truly special experience that you don’t want to miss.
Your 2 Day Taupo Point Overnight trip begins in Golden Bay, where the friendly team at Golden Bay Kayaks provide a safety briefing and get you settled into stable double kayaks with maps, life jackets and safety equipment. From Golden Bay, it’s a leisurely paddle to Taupo Point, with incredible scenery and wildlife encounters along the way. As a self guided kayaking trip, you can explore the coves, islands and beaches along this idyllic Abel Tasman National Park coastline at your own pace and maybe even take the time for a quick dip in the crystal clear water.
If camping at the beautiful Taupo Point, you are in for a treat. From the beach and surrounding waters, you can look out for wildlife such as seals and stingrays, as well as native birds. Explore the archways and rock formations that Abel Tasman National Park is famous for and visit the oldest maritime structure in New Zealand, a waka (traditional Maori canoe) landing site. Then you are in for a remarkable sunset experience before turning in and getting ready for another day of kayaking and exploring on your return trip to Golden Bay.
Weather and time permitting, you may choose to continue paddling further than Taupo Point to Whariwharangi Bay, where there are several other accommodation and camping options available. Visit a historic farm homestead and walk out to Separation Point, which offers incredible views of Golden Bay and Tasman Bay, as well as a playful seal colony.
