Description
Visit Mt Cook and the Tasman Glacier on an incredible day out from Queenstown with Glenorchy Air. The Mt Cook Fly & Tasman Glacier Explorers package includes a return scenic flight from Queenstown to Mt Cook, where you will embark on a 1 hour boat tour of the Tasman Glacier lake. This is one of the best Mt Cook activities to get up close to New Zealand’s longest glacier!
From Queenstown, your scenic flight takes you over the awe-inspiring Southern Alps with views of Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea and Lake Pukaki. You will soon spot the towering peak of Aoraki Mt Cook as you fly above Mount Cook National Park. ‘Aoraki’ in Maori translates as ‘cloud piercer’ and this 3,724 metre high mountain is definitely a must-see in New Zealand!
After landing at Mt Cook Airport, your journey continues on a Tasman Glacier boat trip with Glacier Explorers. Enjoy spectacular views as you take a bus transfer into the Tasman Valley, which was carved out by glaciers over millions of years. You are now in the heart of Mount Cook National Park! After a 25 minute alpine walk, jump aboard the Glacier Explorers boat for a 1 hour adventure cruising past icebergs, icewalls and the mouth of the Tasman Glacier. This is a unique experience in New Zealand and the perfect way to explore Mt Cook before your return flight to Queenstown.
