Ski Field - The Remarkables Queenstown

Ski Field - The Remarkables

Everything Travel Group Review

The Remarkables is ideal for familes with its huge beginner area and state of the art facilities but also offers some of the best off piste skiing in NZ. Nothing beats Homeward run after a fresh dump of powder! If you're not a beginner or don't want to go off piste then Remarkables can get a bit boring as the main ski runs aren't that interesting.

Lift passes are unable to be pre purchased so we don't have any ski packages available for Coronet Peak. However, if you do need to hire clothing, skis, boots or snowboards then we recommend orgainsing them before you head up the mountain. This will save you the hassel of organising it first thing in the morning before you ski and also saves money as they are heaps cheaper than hiring gear on the mountain. Check out the Skis, Boards & Clothing Rental page on our site.

We recommend you book a Cardrona ski field package as the snow is often superior and there are less people with more open spaces to enjoy beginner and intermediate skiing and boarding. Check out the Cardrona Ski Field Ski Packages available on our site.

If you are an advanced skier or boarder then consider going to Treble Cone for the most challenging terrain in the New Zealand. It's a bit further away but worth it if the snow is good!

Latest Questions about Ski Field - The Remarkables (Queenstown)

Can you drive a campervan up the Remakables access road? Is there parking avaliable at the top for 8/9 metre long vehicles? Thank you

Hello. Yes campervans do drive up the remarkables ski field. It is not really recommended as the best option as the road is very windy and depending on the conditions snow chains can be required to make it. There is plenty of parking to fit all kinds of vehicles.

What date does the Remarkables ski fields close this year?

The Remarkables ski field is scheduled to close on the 25th September this year. Coronet Peak ski field is the other Queenstown ski field and is scheduled to close the weak after on the 2nd October. This is of course all dependent on the weather and snow conditions.

Hi. I am wanting to pre book the passes and lessons for the kids. My 3 kids have never snowboarded before. Are they likely to need lift passes for the first day or 2 learning to board or are they likely to remain on the learner slope. Please advise. We are due to arrive 21st June

Hi Steve, it is unlikely that they will move off the learners slope for the first day or 2 so they will only need access to the learners slope. Unfortunately we cannot book lift passes and lessons for The Remarkables ski field and it actually isn't necessary to pre book your lessons and lift passes rather you can get it all organised at the top of the mountain when you arrive.

Is there a cost to park your car and is there plenty of car parks available?

Hi Carol, there is no cost to park your car up at the Remarkables ski field nor do you have to pay a toll for the access road. There is plenty of parking at the top however I recommend arriving as early as possible as the later you are the further down the mountain your park will be .

Can you drive a normal car eg. Toyota corolla up to the snow if you have chains? Or is it best to get a shuttle?

Hi Belinda. You can drive a normal 2 wheel drive car up the Remarkables ski field road in Queenstown as long as you have chains with you. Sometimes the roads are closed due to too much snow though. If you have not driven in winter apline conditions before then I would recommend catching the free shuttle from town as the roads can be treacherous.
