Description
Have a go at Stand Up Paddle Boarding on the stunning Lake Wanaka. Or if you prefer, you can travel by kayak instead! Spend a half day paddling along the coastline of Lake Wanaka to Ruby Island, where you can spend some time exploring before catching a water taxi back.
Unlike traditional surfing where you sit on the board, Stand Up Paddle Boarding involves standing on the board and using a paddle to propel yourself through the water. If you choose kayaking, you will be provided with a double sea kayak (unless travelling in odd numbers).
Before setting out on your self-guided adventure to Ruby Island, you will take part in a safety briefing with a knowledgeable guide, covering everything you will need to know for your tour. After this, it's an an easy 45 minutes out to Ruby Island, one of the 4 main islands on Lake Wanaka. You will then have 2 hours to spend on the island before catching the return shuttle back to Wanaka Lakefront. Explore the trails, enjoy a picnic or simply relax and take in the views.
This is the perfect way to explore Lake Wanaka away from the busy crowds! Whether you have tried SUP or kayaking before or not, this tour will provide you with a great work out whilst allowing you to explore the local area and its natural beauty.
