Description
Experience the pest-free sanctuary of Tiritiri Matangi Island with a daily Tiritiri Matangi Island ferry departing from Auckland or Gulf Harbour. This scenic boat cruise through Tikapa Moana (the Hauraki Gulf) brings you to one of New Zealand’s most successful conservation projects. Spend a day walking the nature trails, spotting native birdlife or relaxing on the beach before the catching the return ferry back to Auckland.
Tiritiri Matangi Island is home to a wide variety of native bird species, including kokako, takahe and tieke. For wildlife and nature enthusiasts, you'll be blown away by the birds you'll see! Once you arrive, you can explore the island’s well-maintained walking tracks, marvel at the regenerating forests, visit a historic lighthouse and take in dramatic cliff-top views. If you bring your swimwear, you can even take a swim at one of the quiet beaches.
The ferry offers an enjoyable 80 minute cruise each way, complete with modern amenities, providing a seamless service for a day out from Auckland to spend time in nature.

- Snacks and drinks are not included; you are welcome to bring your own or purchase onboard. All food must be packed in a sealed container due to biosecurity rules. Please note there is no food available to purchase once you reach the island
- The ferry operates rain or shine, but trips are subject to weather conditions
- Tiritiri Matangi Island is a pest-free island. Please keep to the tracks to avoid disturbing plants, birds or scientific studies. Smoking is restricted
