Heya, Yes you can select your return journey for the next day, or any day after but just not on the same day as the outward journey. Ie. you cannot go to Franz Josef and back in one day. Yes generally i have not heard of the buses being cancelled before, however extreme weather may change this.

If the bus arrives at 4:10 pm-- are there tours available that late if one wants to return the next morning back to Queenstown?

Heya, There is no really to much to do in the evening. The hot pools will be open and a restaurant to get some dinner but the walks and glacier activities will need to be done the next day.

If I am to book this trip from Wanaka to Franz Josef it will depart from Wanaka around 10AM. If I want to return to Wanaka on the same day is that possible and what times

Heya, Unfortunately you cannot do there and back in one day. You will need to book a ticket back the next day. 8am from Queenstown & 10.10am from Wanaka (arrives in Franz Josef 4.10pm) 8am from Franz Josef (arrives in Wanaka at 2.30pm & Queenstown 4.30pm)

Hi I am coming to queenstown...Would I be able to see Franz josef in just 1 day from queenstown ?

Hey. If you would like to go to Franz Josef and back with this tour you will need 2 days. As they only provide one shuttle service per day you will need to buy a QT - Franz ticket and then a Franz - QT ticket.
