If you’re looking to enjoy some glorious scenery – combined with an awesome grade 2 whitewater rafting experience – then the team at Rangitaiki River has everything covered for you. This laid back adventure will immerse you in all of nature’s glory – including spectacular cascading waterfalls, magical forest scenery and cliff faces painted green with native flora. This rafting experience is filled with gentle rolling rapids, which lends itself to a relaxed journey for the whole family – even the very young or old family members!
Start your journey at the base of Aniwhenua Falls; the sight of this awe inspiring waterfall will leave you breathless and the sheer rock wall is an example of nature’s mastery at its best. If you’re feeling like you need a bit of a jump start for your adrenal glands, there are opportunities for you to jump off at various locations along the cliff face. If that seems too intense for you, then make your way down the waterfall on foot – the decision is all yours to make. This only begins your journey, and what follows will leave you breathless with wonder! From the sensational native flora and fauna that you will be immersed in throughout the experience, to the several other magical waterfalls you will encounter as you float your way along the marvellous Rangitaiki River – for the entire journey, beauty and adventure waits around every corner.
The rapids you'll encounter are only gentle rolling rapids, with only minor rocks to avoid. This makes the Rangitaiki River rapids great for the family, and perfect if you’re just looking to relax and take in nature as it was intended. Included in the one and a half hour journey is an opportunity to shower under a glorious waterfall and – if you’re feeling game – you can also try your hand at guiding the raft through the river. You’ll never forget this wonderful experience and neither will your rafting companions.
