Description
There's nothing quite as special as a hot air balloon flight in New Zealand. Experience an entirely new perspective of the South Island's famous landscapes on a hot air ballooning ride in Wanaka. Taking off from the popular resort town, this Wanaka scenic flight provides the perfect vantage point to enjoy views of snow-capped peaks, blue lakes and alpine scenery.
Hot air ballooning begins with an early morning start, so on the day of your flight make sure to dress warmly and according to the season. Meet the friendly Adventure Balloons NZ team in central Wanaka, where a 4WD transfer - the chase vehicle - will take you out to the launch site. Learn all about the fascinating inflation process of the hot air balloon from your pilot, who will also provide a safety briefing for the trip. Then, it's up up and away!
As you start the ascent, make sure to have your camera at the ready. Hot air balloon rides in Wanaka offer breathtaking views of the Southern Alps, Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea and Mt Aspiring National Park. The first half of your Wanaka ballooning adventure is spent floating at altitude, where you can marvel at the panoramic sights of the Wanaka region below. You will then gently descend for the remainder of the flight for a closer look at the ground. Upon landing, enjoy a celebratory sparkling wine and light buffet before returning back to central Wanaka.

- Groups are capped at 12 participants
- Light winds, good visibility and an acceptable cloud base are required for the flight to go ahead. If your flight is cancelled due to bad weather you can reschedule or contact us for a full refund
