When I booked it the website stated that the ride would go ahead in all weathers. It was then re-arranged and cancelled twice while I was there due to rain even though I was still willing to go - this wasted two days of my very short time in Christchurch which prevented me from doing other trips.

Very disapointed that it was cancelled

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding the Rubicon Valley horse riding. We are sorry your trek was cancelled due to weather conditions and you were unable to go during your stay in Christchurch. Safety is Rubicon's number one priority and while treks do still go ahead if it is raining at times the final decision is made based on all weather conditions. If the rain is heavy, the wind is cold and conditions aren't looking safe to trek then a decision will be made to cancel the trek. Sometimes conditions just do not permit trekking and as Rubicon Valley is in the hills treks where conditions can deteriorate quickly and snow is possible treks do need to be cancelled. We have added this information to the listing to avoid any other confusion so thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Comments
Thank you for your question regarding the horse riding at Rubicon Valley Horse Treks. It depends on the day what the weather situation is, the operator will make a decision depending on the conditions they will try their best to maintain the trek.
Hi
Is there a rider weight restriction?
If I am an experienced rider - comfortable with cantering - which ride would I be best suited to?
Also is the $40 for a return transfer to and from Christchurch?
Comments
The Christchurch return transfers are a bit tricky actually. They cost $40 per person but you have to book for 3 or more people so its a minimum of $120 for the transfers return. If you don't have a car then there is an Atomic Shuttle that leaves Christchurch at 7.15am and drops people at Springfield by 8.15am and the Rubicon horse guides will pick you up from there. The shuttle back leaves Springfield at 4.15pm and returns to Christchurch by 5.15pm. Cost is $60 return per person so its cheaper if you are booking this on your own.
